Our names are Rich, Sam, and May Wickham. We began Foxhole Farm in April of 2018 when we finally discovered the right place to plant some seed and set our roots in Brookville, Ohio. Foxhole Farm is a full-time venture for us, and it has been a long time coming.
Sam grew up in the suburbs of Dayton and found her way to farming during her time attending culinary school in the Hudson Valley of New York. Rich, hailing from Westchester County New York, stumbled upon farming after graduating from college. We met each other while apprenticing at a farm in New York where we rotationally grazed mixed species of livestock. Neither of us grew up farming but were drawn to the joys of growing food and the way of farm life. We have been farming since 2011 for other folks, learning from a variety of farmers and building our understanding of the many ways to tend to the ground, to husband animals, and to produce food while feeding the soil and working in tandem with the ecosystem.
After managing farm operations in both Michigan and Ohio, we are thrilled to be starting a farm of our own here in the Miami Valley. We are setting roots in the Dayton area and enjoying the madness of starting our family while starting our family farm. As they say, when it rains, it pours!
We love growing and providing nourishing, delicious food for our local community here in southern Ohio!
Best to you and yours,
Sam, Rich, and May
